Pilot 1 – Granton D1
75 new homes utilising zero emissions heating and modern methods of construction (MMC).
Monitoring the performance of the completed homes is key to ensuring that the business model is delivering the anticipated benefits to both the developing client and the home occupier. To do so the first pilot project was monitored during its construction to evaluate the quality, speed and cost of construction, and the completed buildings are providing live data on energy performance.
All monitoring will be used to inform subsequent homes being delivered and the evolution of a new collaborative business model.
The predicted performance will be analysed and validated by Edinburgh Napier University & the University of Edinburgh based on reviews at the design stage and for a period of 12 months while the homes are occupied.
The following indicators will be included in the analysis:
Heating and appliance electricity
Internal air temperature
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels
Internal humidity levels
As built U-values
As built air tightness
Local weather conditions
Occupants trends
The final analysis of the build project will be available 2025.
The data will be used to understand the impact that electric heating systems have on energy demand and to refine the design of future homes constructed using the Net Zero Approach therefore, addressing the gap in performance between the designed buildings and the as built.
Pilot 2
Greendkes K&L is a delivering 140 homes using multiple Modern Methods of Construction systems.
Pilot 3
Delivering a pipeline of sites with multiple partners to test collaborative procurement.
